What finishes are available for tiles?

polishedPolished
Traditional polish to give a smooth, high gloss surface. Be aware that different stones have different polish levels based on the mineral composition of the stone.
honedHoned
Smooth matt finish with a minimal reflection. This is achieved at the factory by stopping just short of the last stage of polishing.
tumbledTumbled
This process of involves tumbling with sand, pebbles or steel bearings in order to create a weathered, antique look in the stone, with softened edges. This rustic look is very popular for casual settings.
brushedBrushed
Buffing heads run over the surface to create a smooth and subtle texture, similar to a honed surface, but slightly less uniform. The end texture has a slightly weathered texture.
split faceSplit Face
The texture is created through the separation of the stone to create a look as if it was an exposed rock in nature.
chiseledChiseled
Machine chiseled edges create a finish similar to the split face stone, but typically leave chisel marks along the edges not the surface.

Due to the fact that stone is a natural product, all stones will vary in pattern. Even though the samples in our showroom have been selected to specifically show its characteristics, designs from slab to slab tend to be unpredictable. However, our staff will do their best to select the stone that is closest to your preference.

  • s it necessary to seal stone? How often do I have to seal stone?
Although there are no guarantees against staining, stone sealers do give you some degree of protection against staining. Proper cleaning and maintenance is the best way to ensure the prevention of stains on the surface. Marble, limestone, slate and travertine require just as much care as granite. With proper care, your stone surfaces will provide many years of beauty and elegance to your space. After installation depending how often the surface is used you need to reseal your stone surface every 3-4 years. Sealing is such an easy process. Clean your surface apply the sealer with a piece of cloth or brush and wipe off the excess sealer with a lint free cloth just before it dries completely. Your surface is resealed before you know it.

  • Do marble stain?
All natural stone is porous and therefore, is subject to staining. Some stains (oils, coffee, wine, etc) will set easier than others depending on the material and type of stain. In most cases, stains can be prevented by quickly wiping the spill. To protect stone from staining we recommend all of our products to be sealed with the proper sealer (based on your preference as there are different options for sealers). Please consult with one of our salespersons for the details.

  • What should I use to clean Natural Stone products?
Please use warm water and mild soap to clean stone surfaces. We do not recommend the use of bleach, ammonia or acid based cleaners.
